‘Turning our hand to lights has always been a dream of mine and Rakumba offered us the opportunity for a true collaboration with incredibly amazing results. As a process-obsessed architect it was fabulous to go behind the scenes at the Rakumba factory and learn about the craft of light making & industrial design.’

Founded in 2010 by Monique and Scott Woodward, WOWOWA have made an impact with their colourful, contextual and socially sustainable approach to architecture and design. WOWOWA proudly describe themselves as spatial problem solvers and industry innovators committed to contributing to the legacy of the beautiful design city of Melbourne. Scott’s sculpture background and the team’s passion for colour and playfulness give rise to WOWOWA designing beautiful geometrically challenging forms that excite the eye and tell stories.
‘WOWOWA specialises in engaging, playful & flexible family homes for design-savvy professionals who know life’s too short for boring spaces’
Lecturing at Monash University and RMIT University enables Monique and Scott to inspire others to see that architecture and design should have a sense of humour, be deeply cultural and shape cities.
In 2015, the studio was also the winner of the coveted Dulux National Study Tour Prize. WOWOWA continue to grow the broad spectrum of their design portfolio. They are heavily inspired by the Australian cultural landscape and enjoy indulging in the prosaic irony of the extraordinary ordinary.
